The Functional Movement Screen (FMS)
We use the FMS as part of our initial assessment to establish a baseline for your fundamental movement competency. The FMS captures fundamental movements, motor control within movement patterns, and competence of basic movements. It determines your greatest areas of movement deficiency and asymmetries. The system rates your movement patterns so we can develop a specific plan for corrective movement and training. This process is simple and extremely effective. We’ll periodically retest you to track your progress.
NeuroKinetic Therapy (NKT)
NKT provides specific movement assessments and corrections to regain muscular control to perform at your potential. It identifies the root cause of pain, discomfort, and dysfunction, rather than just treating the symptoms. Through manual muscle testing according to the NKT protocol, we can quickly and accurately identify muscle compensation patterns. We’ll give you specific corrections to restore your quality of movement. We can also refer you to one of the on-site physiotherapists at iMove who specialize in NKT.
Nutritional Coaching
We know that proper nutrition is critical for peak performance. We also know that the wealth of nutritional information available can be confusing and intimidating. We’ll give you the tools and the knowledge you need to make practical and sustainable dietary changes. Our certified Level 2 Precision Nutrition Coach will assess your current diet, identify any deficiencies, and help you set goals. Then, you’ll receive a customized nutrition plan. We’ll also check in regularly to track your progress and make adjustments.
Habit Tracking
We developed our in-house habit tracking system to make it easy for you to track your progress toward achieving your goals. Our system is broken down into 13 categories, ranging from cardio and strength training to meditation and sleep. Your trainer will help you set weekly goals in as many (or as few) categories as you’d like. Each day, you’ll enter your accomplishments. You’ll be able to view your weekly progress and look at the progress other clients and our trainers are making toward their own goals.
Our Programs
Exercise should build you up, not break you down. Our programs are custom designed for you based on your quality of movement, training history, and current goals. We take you through foundational movements and teach you how to train properly to make sure you don’t get injured in the process. We ensure that all exercise is pain free and that you recover well from each session. Our trainers continually assess your movements to ensure you’re doing the right exercises at the appropriate intensity.
Our exercise programs are built on the basic functional movement patterns for strength: hinge, squat, push, pull, and carry. We don’t use any weight machines. We train the body the way we were designed to move: with free weights, kettlebells, barbells, and ground-based movements. We meet you with the variations that you can currently handle and introduce progressions as you get more fit.
We utilize proven strength and conditioning protocols to yield ideal results. Research has demonstrated that using periodization exponentially improves progress. We periodize your program into structured phases to focus on targets such as strength or fat loss. Phases are typically broken down into four categories: foundational, hypertrophy, strength, and metabolic conditioning. We adjust your program every six to eight weeks depending on your goals.
Fascial Stretch Therapy
Our experienced therapists have learned directly under the FST creators, Ann and Chris Frederick, from the Stretch To Win Institute in Arizona. FST is a table-based assisted stretching system focusing on the fascia (connective tissue) and the joint capsule as the key elements in achieving optimal mobility. Through a series of stretching techniques that manipulate, lengthen, realign, and reorganize your fascia, FST can quickly and effectively improve your flexibility, range of motion, and movement patterns, making it a powerful complement to personal training. Regular FST treatments can
reduce muscle tension and soreness;
decrease stress;
improve breathing patterns;
improve blood flow and circulation;
improve recovery from exercise;
improve sleep; and
increase sense of wellbeing.
