Change Up Your Cardio
Change up your cardio to boost your health! Everybody knows that regular exercise can positively affect our life and health. We’re told to lift weights 🏋️♀️ for strong muscles and to jog 🏃♂️to strengthen the heart and lungs.
To build a strong and resilient heart ❤️, we need to improve our heart’s reserve capacity. This is required for when the heart becomes stressed and is seeking some extra energy. If the heart is overly stressed and can’t rely on any reserved energy, that’s when a heart attack will hit.
We’ve always been big time advocates of promoting interval cardio training over steady state cardio. Jogging does not improve the heart’s reserve capacity for when it’s needed for stressful situations.
Interval training does indeed build the heart’s reserve capacity ✨. It also improves our metabolism, activates the lymph system, improves insulin resistance and changes how our bodies store sugar. And it’s one of the best exercise protocols for weight loss if you do it consistently. Not to mention it takes significantly less time, which can help with motivation.
The great part about interval training is it can be done by anyone at any fitness level. Simply start by moving at an easy pace, and then pick up the intensity for chosen time, then slow back down to that easy pace. Repeat this process several more times. It takes as little as twelve minutes.
This type of exercise will increase your lung volume and build the critical reserve capacity that is necessary to prevent heart attacks.
Even the best distance athletes are incorporating a variety of interval training protocols to compete at the highest levels. Less mileage can decrease the prevalence of injuries too.
